Gov. DeSantis names Dr. Gary Kompothecras to Florida’s Board of Chiropractic Medicine
Why it matters
Governor Ron DeSantis picked our founder for the state board that licenses and disciplines Florida’s chiropractors. It is the latest in a long line of state appointments for the Sarasota businessman who built 1-800-ASK-GARY.

On January 7, 2026, the Governor’s office announced the appointment of Dr. Gary Kompothecras, DC, of Sarasota to the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine for a term running to October 2029. ABC7 Sarasota (WWSB) reported the news the next day.
The Governor’s announcement describes him as manager of Physicians Group, LLC, a graduate of the University of South Florida in marketing and of Life University’s chiropractic program, and a member of the Sarasota Military Academy Foundation board. He previously served on the Space Florida board and the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority. ABC7 added his role as a producer of MTV’s “Siesta Key” and his support for youth programs, including Boys & Girls Clubs partnerships in Tampa Bay and Broward County.
The appointment was subject to Florida Senate confirmation. The Senate’s records show it took no action on the confirmation before the 2026 session ended on March 13. Read ABC7’s full report, which also covers his business history and political giving, at the link below.
